The Bug

Starting out as a Grasshopper exercise, The Bug explores the nature to how a species morphs from one stage of life to the next.

Type: Visual and Model Study

Year: 2016

Criteria: Bug, Evolution, and the Egoshpere

Professor: Brady Peters

School: University of Toronto Daniels Faculty

All geometry is governed by points and lines to create the overall but form. The evolution/age is controlled by sliders so the observer can watch the bug transform.

At the end of the exercise, a model was created. This model takes on a piece of the bug itself as well as looking into an additional idea, the egospherical form.

The 3D print is an extraction of the bugs eye structure

Each cone resembles an eye/egosphere

The casting provides and obscured view into the eye/egosphere, never allowing a direct view into any individual eye/egosphere.
