Broadacre City: Embedding The Performative Grid Into The Contemporary City

Broadacre City - Frank Lloyd Wright

Course: Form, Contingency, Agency; Introduction to Urbanism

Professor: Roberto Damiani

School: University of Toronto Daniels Faculty

This is an exploration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s principles of Broadacre City and how they have translated to what we develop the city grid today. Predating the emergence of suburbs, Wright’s project explores the grid as a form of provisions (Form, Contingency, and Agency) as a way to establish a democratic society.

The city is a domain that shapes our way of movements through communications and transactions which is governed by the embodied specialized forces within its bounding regions.
